Atlantic Group has begun construction of a new cement plant in Tamatava, which will have a capacity of 500,000t/yr and create over 1000 jobs. The plant will span nine hectares, employing primarily local residents, and use ‘advanced’ technology to minimise CO₂ emissions, according to Fraternité Matin newspaper. Supported by the Malagasy authorities and president, the Madagascan Cement Company will commence operations in the second quarter of 2025.
